Provision a cloud server

Coolify can create a server in a connected Hetzner, DigitalOcean, Vultr, or Hostinger account. After the provider assigns an IP address, validate the server so Coolify can prepare it for deployments.

This creates a billable server

Selecting Buy & Create Server sends a server-creation request to the provider. The provider charges your account according to the selected plan and options.

A Hostinger order is a paid purchase. Hostinger charges the default payment method of the account for the full billing period (1 month, 1 year, or 2 years). Hostinger does not bill per hour. Read Hostinger billing and deletion.

What you need

Before you start:

  1. Follow Cloud Tokens to add a valid provider token.
  2. Open Keys & Tokens > Private Keys and create or import an SSH key.
  3. Confirm that the provider account can create servers and has a valid payment method.

Coolify uploads the selected public key to the provider when needed. It uses the root user and SSH port 22 for the new server.

Create the server

Choose a provider

  1. Select Servers in the Coolify sidebar.
  2. Select New server.
  3. Select Hetzner, DigitalOcean, Vultr, or Hostinger.
  4. Select the cloud token for the provider account.

Configure the server

Complete the fields for your provider.

FieldWhat to choose
Server NameA recognizable name for the server.
LocationThe Hetzner data center location.
Server TypeThe server plan and resources.
ImageA supported Linux image.
Private KeyThe SSH key Coolify will use.

Under Advanced Hetzner Options, you can add extra SSH keys, firewalls, and private networks; control IPv4 and IPv6; enable Hetzner backups; and provide a cloud-init script.

Hetzner backups add 20% to the monthly server price.

If you need startup configuration on Hetzner, DigitalOcean, or Vultr, select a saved script or enter one in the cloud-init field. Read Cloud-Init Scripts before using this option.

Send the creation request

Review the selected plan and options, then select Buy & Create Server. For Hostinger, select Buy and create.

Coolify creates its server record immediately. The provider may take several minutes to create the machine and assign its public IP address.

Wait for the provider

Keep the server page open while Coolify checks the provider status and updates the server IP address.

Wait until:

  • the provider reports that the server is running
  • the server has its final reachable IP address
  • SSH has had time to start

If the provider reports the machine as stopped or otherwise unavailable, power it on in the provider console or relink it before validation.

For Hostinger, Coolify waits a short time for the public IP address. The IP address can appear 1 to 2 minutes later. Coolify adds it to the server automatically.

Validate the server

Select Validate connection. The server page shows Revalidate connection after successful validation.

Coolify checks SSH access, the operating system, required tools, Docker Engine, and Docker Compose. When validation finishes, confirm that the server is reachable and validated.

Hostinger billing and deletion

Hostinger works differently from the other providers. Read this section before you buy a Hostinger VPS.

Payment is still processing

Sometimes Hostinger accepts the order but the payment is not complete. In this case, Coolify does not create a server. Coolify shows this message:

Hostinger order N is waiting for payment. Finish the VPS setup in hPanel.

Open hPanel and finish the VPS setup there. To manage the VPS in Coolify, add the server. Then link it to Hostinger.

Setup fails after payment

Sometimes Hostinger charges the order, but the VPS setup fails. Coolify then tries the setup again. Coolify also links the VPS to the server, so you do not lose it.

If the setup still fails, the server shows the state initial. Finish the VPS setup in hPanel.

Server status

A linked Hostinger server shows a Hostinger · <state> badge on the server page. Select Refresh Status to get the current state from Hostinger.

If the VPS is stopped, you can start it from Coolify. Coolify does not validate the server over SSH while the VPS is stopped or suspended.

Delete a Hostinger VPS

Hostinger has no API to delete a VPS immediately. When you delete the server in Coolify, you can select Also delete VPS from Hostinger (at the end of the paid period). Coolify then turns off auto-renewal for the VPS. The VPS keeps running until the paid period ends. Then Hostinger deletes the VPS and all its data.

If you do not select this option, the VPS keeps running and Hostinger continues to bill you.

To delete the VPS now, or to request a refund in the 30-day money-back period, cancel the VPS in hPanel under Billing > Subscriptions.

Read Remove Server for the full deletion steps.

Create a Hostinger server with the API

You can also create a Hostinger server with the Coolify API. All endpoints are under /api/v1 and use a Bearer token.

Use these endpoints to find the values for the request. Send cloud_provider_token_uuid as a query parameter.

EndpointReturns
GET /hostinger/data-centersThe Hostinger data centers.
GET /hostinger/catalogThe KVM plans and their prices.
GET /hostinger/templatesThe operating system templates.
GET /hostinger/ssh-keysThe SSH keys in the Hostinger account.
GET /hostinger/post-install-scriptsThe post-install scripts. Returns 403 with the Hostinger message if the token does not have permission.

Then send POST /servers/hostinger with these fields:

FieldTypeRequiredDescription
cloud_provider_token_uuidstringYesThe UUID of the Hostinger cloud token.
item_idstringYesThe price ID of the plan and billing period, such as hostingercom-vps-kvm1-usd-1m.
data_center_idintegerYesThe data center ID.
template_idintegerYesThe operating system template ID.
private_key_uuidstringYesThe UUID of the Coolify private key.
namestringNoThe server name.
enable_backupsbooleanNoEnables weekly Hostinger backups, which cost extra. The default is false.
public_key_idsinteger arrayNoThe IDs of more SSH keys from the Hostinger account.
post_install_script_idintegerNoThe ID of a Hostinger post-install script.
instant_validatebooleanNoValidates the server immediately.

The API returns:

  • 201 with uuid, hostinger_virtual_machine_id, ip, and provisioning when Coolify creates the server.
  • 202 with message when the payment is still processing. Coolify does not create a server.
  • 422 when the request is not valid.
  • 429 when you send too many requests. Hostinger allows about 90 requests per minute.
The API also buys the VPS

A successful POST /servers/hostinger request places a paid order. Hostinger charges the default payment method of the account.

If provisioning fails

  • Confirm that the cloud token is valid and has write permissions.
  • Confirm that the provider account can create the selected plan in the selected region.
  • Check provider quotas, account balance, and payment status.
  • Confirm that the selected SSH key is valid.
  • Open the provider console to determine whether the machine was created before retrying. Delete unwanted billable machines there.
  • For Hostinger, open hPanel before you try again. Hostinger can charge an order even if Coolify shows an error. Read Hostinger billing and deletion.

For token-specific checks, follow Cloud Tokens troubleshooting.
