Neon Object Storage
Neon Object Storage exposes an S3-compatible endpoint that you can use with Coolify backups.
Neon Object Storage buckets are scoped to a Neon branch, and each branch has its own S3 endpoint. Pick the branch that should keep your backups, usually your production branch, and use the endpoint and credentials from that branch.
Configure Neon Object Storage
Create the bucket
In the Neon Console, open your project, select the branch, and open the Object storage tab. Select + Create bucket, enter a name, keep the access level private, and select Create.
You can also create the bucket with the Neon CLI:
neon buckets create coolify-backupsCopy the S3 connection details
Select Connect and open the Storage tab. Choose .env tab and copy these four values:
| Neon value | Example |
|---|---|
AWS_ENDPOINT_URL_S3 | https://br-cool-darkness-a1b2c3d4.storage.c-1.us-east-2.aws.neon.tech |
AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID | nak_live_... |
AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY | nsk_live_... |
AWS_REGION | us-east-2 |
To create a separate access key pair for Coolify, use the Neon CLI instead:
neon credentials create --scope storage:read --scope storage:write --name coolifyUse token_id as the access key and s3_secret_access_key as the secret key.
Save the access key and secret key somewhere secure.
Add Neon Object Storage to Coolify
In Coolify, open S3 Storage and select New storage. Enter:
| Coolify field | Neon value |
|---|---|
| Protocol | https. |
| Host | The hostname from AWS_ENDPOINT_URL_S3, without https://. For example, br-cool-darkness-a1b2c3d4.storage.c-1.us-east-2.aws.neon.tech. |
| Port | Leave empty. |
| Path | Leave empty. |
| Bucket | The bucket created in Neon. |
| Region | The AWS_REGION value, for example us-east-2. |
| Access Key | The AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID value. |
| Secret Key | The AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY value. |
Select Validate Connection & Continue.
Enter only the branch hostname in Host and the bucket name in Bucket. Do not append the bucket name to the endpoint.
Verify the connection
Coolify verifies the connection with a ListObjectsV2 request, so the bucket must already exist before validation.
Neon Object Storage supports the S3 operations Coolify uses for backups: listing, uploads (including multipart uploads), downloads for restores, and deletes.
Neon Object Storage limits each object to 5 GiB, including multipart uploads. Coolify uploads each backup file as a single object, so files larger than 5 GiB cannot be stored in Neon, even when connection validation succeeds. Use another S3-compatible provider if your backup files can exceed this limit. See Neon's storage limits.
