MariaDB
Coolify deploys MariaDB as a standalone container on the selected server and destination. A new resource gets generated root and application-user passwords, a persistent data volume, an internal connection URL, and a health check.
MariaDB is an open-source relational database that is compatible with many MySQL clients, schemas, and tools.
Create a MariaDB database
Open New Resource
Open the project and environment where the database should live, then select New Resource.
Select MariaDB
Under Databases, select MariaDB. You can also search for MariaDB by name.
Select a server
Select the server that should run MariaDB. Build servers cannot be selected because they do not host running database resources.
Select a destination
Select the Docker network destination that MariaDB should join.
Review the generated configuration
Coolify creates the resource and opens General. Review the image, root password, normal username and password, initial database, and connection URLs. Keep the default private networking unless an external client requires access.
Start MariaDB
Select Start and follow the startup output. Wait until MariaDB is running and healthy, then copy the MariaDB URL (internal) into applications on the same destination network.

The root password and normal-user password are generated when the resource is created. If you change credentials or the initial database in MariaDB, update the matching values in General so connection URLs and automated backups continue to work.
Connect to MariaDB
MariaDB uses a MySQL-compatible connection URL. Use the MariaDB URL (internal) for an application on the same Coolify destination network:
mysql://<user>:<password>@<database-container>:3306/<database>Coolify shows a MariaDB URL (public) only after Public access > Access > Public through TCP proxy and Public port are configured. Keep the database private unless an external client requires direct access.
Configure MariaDB
Open General to change the image, credentials, Port mappings, public proxy, custom Docker options, and Custom MariaDB configuration. Restart the resource after changing generated container configuration.
Back up and restore MariaDB
Coolify uses mariadb-dump for scheduled backups. Selected databases are dumped directly. Database selection > All databases runs mariadb-dump --all-databases and compresses the output with pigz when it is available, otherwise gzip. The all-database file name ends in .gz. For Specific databases, type each name and press Enter in Databases to back up.
Use Database backups to configure schedules, retention, and S3 storage. The built-in Import Backup form accepts MariaDB backups while the database is running; follow Restore a database for the import workflow.
Stop application writes and verify the target resource before confirming an import. Keep a separate copy of any data that must not be replaced.
SSL and health checks
MariaDB exposes SSL without an SSL mode selector. Coolify configures the database TLS listener; configure the MariaDB client with its SSL options when connecting. See Database SSL for the CA certificate workflow.
Configure the Docker health check under Healthcheck and restart MariaDB after saving.
